About
Luisa Angela Carpino
Luisa Angela Carpino grew up in Sudbury, Ontario, and still calls it home today. After earning an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from Laurentian University, she went on to become a Chartered Accountant in 1995. For more than a decade she worked in public accounting firms, focusing almost entirely on personal and business income tax. That hands-on experience taught her how the rules really affect everyday people.
Later she spent fourteen years inside the Canada Revenue Agency, handling everything from assessments to complex rulings in the Income Tax Rulings Directorate. Seeing the system from the inside gave her a clear view of how decisions get made and why certain rules exist. Those years sharpened her ability to explain complicated tax ideas in simple, practical ways.
Today Luisa runs Tax School Canada, where she teaches, writes, and helps people understand their taxes without the usual confusion. She wrote Income Tax for the Everyday Canadian to share what she has learned over thirty years, so regular Canadians can take charge of their own filings, plan smarter, and keep more of what they earn.
Outside of tax work, she loves creating mixed media art pieces. Her greatest joy comes from time with her two children, Emilia and Jacob, who fill her days with warmth and laughter.
